As a German, globally active medium-sized company (turnover of around 120 million euros, highly profitable), we supply industrial equipment to several process technologies under one roof, thereby being one of the leading suppliers of customised proprietary equipment in our highly specialized market segments including petrochemicals, chemicals and Oil and Gas. Driven by the innovative strength and know-how of our employees, as well as our holistic understanding of processes, we create sustainable customer benefits, and, with our broadly diversified technology spectrum, we are suppliers to leading players in our process industry market segments.
In this technologically demanding and highly competitive market, we want to continue to grow target-oriented, ambitiously and profitably in the coming years. To realize our strategic goals, we are looking for a qualified leadership personality (m/f/d) as soon as possible as Chief Operating Officer.
In this demanding and newly created position, you are strengthening the executive team as an experienced COO with potential for assuming Unit Managing Director-responsibilities in order to relieve the CEO of the operations-related activities. The spectrum of your responsibilities cover - in terms of the value chain in mechanical engineering and project business - the operational processes from point of order to delivery. In functional terms, you will manage the areas of engineering, project management, procurement, manufacturing as well as HSEQ. The objective is to streamline and improve the operating model by implementing operational improvement measures in terms of efficiency, profitability and working capital (e.g. project execution, manufacturing, quality improvement, outsourcing, global sourcing, KPI management).
You are an entrepreneurially minded individual and results-oriented leader, who has experienced and led all aspects of modern operations management in a global industrial project business with strong competitors and in a best-in-class engineering-operations-focused culture. You should have a functionally very strong engineering, project management and manufacturing background, and should have proven that you can successfully align a project-based operations organization methodically and sustainably. Besides all strategic elements of the role, a mind-set is expected that enjoys pace and constantly changing challenges, the relentless pursuit of improvement and a strong “can-do” mentality, therefore, attention to detail is crucial. Furthermore, an authentic and inspiring leadership personality is sought in order to develop a stronger leadership team with a performance-driven culture.
Since the position is also designed as a methodical role expansion (by additionally managing a unit with P+L responsibility in the mid-term), you also have to demonstrably possess the potential to take on a Unit Managing Director position by having good appreciation of sales and customer engagement and strong focus on external markets, ideally through some prior experience in sales, business development, strategy and/or general management.
